US President Donald Trump signs the Laken Riley Act, legislation requiring the detention of immigrants living in the U.S. illegally who are accused of theft.
In his first week in office, Trump issued 35 executive orders, including on “emergency price relief”, officially recognising only two genders and ordering the southern border wall to be completed.
Since Barack Obama, it has become common for presidents to issue a raft of orders in their first few weeks — but Trump’s second term has had more in his first week than any president in living memory.
It is also worth noting just how many orders President Biden passed in his final days in office.
