The story begins when the stepmother decides to lock the doors of the rooms and head to the asphalt road to take a taxi to the courthouse and have an interview with Amir about family issues. After a few minutes of waiting, a taxi arrives and the stepmother gets in it and heads towards the city.
Meanwhile, Amir is busy checking the car's water and oil in the yard. Abbas approaches him and offers to go to court with him to testify against the stepmother. But Fatemeh, who is collecting clothes from the clothesline, overhears their conversation and objects. He is afraid that Abbas' presence in court will anger his stepmother, and as a result, she will refuse to give consent to Amir. Amir also sees Fatima's words as logical and decides to go to court alone.
Abbas is upset about this and intends to argue with Fatima, but Hanieh intervenes and, calming him down, suggests that instead of fighting, they go to Elham and ask her to bake them local bread.
They go to Elham's house, but suddenly Elham angrily attacks the door with a stick. Abbas is shocked and asks what happened. Elham explains with sadness that in his absence, Sadeq entered the house and messed up everything, and he thought he had returned again.
Understanding Elham's situation, Abbas takes only the baking utensils from her and returns home. When Fatima sees the equipment, she objects and says she doesn’t bake bread, but Abbas patiently convinces her. Fatima still hesitates and says she can’t bake bread in the room. Abbas cleans and prepares one of the rooms with a shovel and takes the equipment there, spreads a sack, and prepares an area for baking.
Fatima, with the help of Hanieh, makes some dough and starts baking bread. The breads turn out beautiful and delicious, and Abbas thanks Fatima for her efforts and eats the breads.
At that moment, Amir returns from the court. Abbas goes to greet her and when he takes the food items from her, he asks her about the outcome of the trial. Amir says that today’s session was just the first session and the court has set a new time to continue the proceedings.
