While going through a park, Charlie meets Mabel, a young woman of high society, who is being assaulted by a miscreant, and manages to save her. In gratitude, the young woman invites him to a party. Charlie, who is a waiter in a bar at the slums, comes posing as a count. His crude manners attract their attention but doesn't give him away. Charlie returns to the bar followed by his rival, who also brings Mabel and her friends to expose Charlie's imposture.
