At this year's reenactment in Fort Lee, NJ, HM's 54th Regiment of Foot- alongside the 22nd of Foot- was tasked with defending a blockhouse against impossible odds. We held out for as long as we could, but eventually ran out of ammunition. When the rebels threatened to burn down our fortifications, with us still inside, we were forced to surrender the position and our arms.
