UPDATING THE TAIL LIGHTS OF MY MINI COOPER

(NOTE: information in this video may now be out of date due to recent updates with BimmerCode as well as updates in the software to your MINI. Use this information at your discretion.)

Well I finally did it. I installed Union Jack taillights on my MINI. I can say the final result is incredible and I want to thank The MINI Vlog (   / theminivlog  ) for providing the instructions in the 3 videos he made on the subject as this process can be tedious. I included the instructions below and I did some checking and you have to do something similar for the aftermarket taillights but the process is very straight forward. I am still having some flickering on start up on the indicators but I think that will be remedied by changing the settings to those as well. You'll need to download the BimmerCode App and purchase expert mode.

Instructions:
1. Plug in ODB connector and connect via Bluetooth to your phone
2. Launch the BimmerCode app
3. Go into the Body Domain Controller category in basic mode
4. In the voltage monitoring section, make sure the Tail Light Monitoring is set to LED and not monitoring
5. Find module called "Adaptive Brake Light Cold Monitoring" – set from Active to NOT ACTIVE
6. Change into expert mode
7. Go to the 3061 LcxOutputChannels2 section
8. Find and set BL_R_IS_LED = aktiv (active)
9. Find and set BL_R_WARMUEBERWACHUNG = nicht_aktiv (not active)
10. Find and set BL_R_KALTUEBERWACHUNG = nicht_aktiv (not active)
11. Find and set BL_L_IS_LED = aktiv (active)
12. Find and set BL_L_WARMUEBERWACHUNG = nicht_aktiv (not active)
13. Find and set BL_L_KALTUEBERWACHUN = nicht_aktiv (not active)
14. - 3064 - Mapping_brakeforced_1_L_Output = bl_l
3064 - Mapping_brakeforced_1_R_Output = bl_r
3065- Mapping_brakeforced_2_L_Output = bfd_l
3065- Mapping_brakeforced_2_R_Output = bfd_r
3065 - Mapping_bremsl_2_L_output = fra_h_l
3065 - Mapping_bremsl_2_R_output = fra_h_r
15. Now tap the code button in the app.
16. Your ECU may restart and your engine will shut off.
17. Power off the car.
18. Power back on the car and you should not see any errors!

(NOTE: I got a fault on the taillights while applying the brakes today. Make sure everything pertaining to those uniques, indicators and reverse bulbs, are set to LED with the warnings turned off. Better to be on the safe side with that.)
