The Igniter is used to ignite the gas inside of the range. You may need to replace the High Limit Thermostat if yours is cracked, damaged, or missing.
Today, Mike from Point & Click Appliance Repair will take you step by step through this repair so you can learn how to replace the Igniter (part number WB2X9154) in a GE Gas Range by yourself.
Part number WB2X9154 replaces AP2014008, 1990, 300259, 319887, 327617, 330689, 337263, 4336387, 4338008, AH243425, EA243425, PS243425, WB00X6640, WB02X9154, WB13K0001, WB13K0003, WB13K0004, WB13K01, WB13K04, WB13K1, WB13K10027, WB13K3, WB13K4
WARNING: Before starting any repair, always make sure that the appliance is completely disconnected from the power source by unplugging it. This tutorial is meant to be a guide and should not be used in place of the installation instructions provided by the manufacturer.
Tools Needed:
1/4 inch nut driver
-wire cutters
Step-by-step how-to instructions for replacing the Igniter (WB2X9154 ) in your GE GAs range.
1. Disconnect Appliance from Power Source
2. Open the door and remove the racks
3. remove the bottom panel (depending on your model you may have to unscrew it to remove it)
4. disconnect the wire that connects the wire to the components inside the range. You do this by closing the range door and removing the bottom drawer
5. disconnect the wire by pulling it out of the clip and remove the 2 screws
6. Open up the door and remove the screw that holds the manifold pipe, the turn the pipe so remove the screws that hold the pipe
7. remove old igniter and cut both ends
8. With your new OEM replacement igniter (see hardware how to replace the igniter) For our model we only need the wire connectors
9. take the ending clips of the old igniter and strip them down, take the ends of the wires and tie them together, then put the wire nut on each end
10. position new oem igniter on manifold pipe
11. replace the 2 screws to screw the igniter into the manifold pipe, then screw the manifold pipe back into he base of the range
12. connect wires back into the unit, connect the wires back into the safety belt
13. put the 2 screws back you took out previously
14. put the bottom drawer, the bottom panel (put screws back in), and racks into the range, close the door
15. Repair is complete
This part may also work with other General Electric manufactured brands including some Hotpoint or RCA models.
