Ok so, Kate is not manipulating Avery or anything. Kate just love Avery sm, since Avery and Dylan are together, Kate gets more jealous(ofc) but she still act normal and didn't tell that she likes Avery, even she tell her she thought that Avery will hate her..so she just kept it as a secret. And when the songs said "What are the chances? Everyone's dancing and he's not with you" since Dylan and her gf broke up, he wants Avery back and he ask if they could start over again and Avery said "uhm" and Dylan grab her and Kate look mad and grab her away from Dylan. Kate is just trying to protect Kate no matter what so that's why. (I'm very sorry for my bad grammar but I hope u understand TT)

And u might be wondering that why Kate and Dylan know each other.
Kate and Dylan used to be bestfriends and soon after Kate found out that Dylan and his other friend is just using her for money. So they broke up (as a bsf)
