Welcome to Hoonah… Home to Alaska’s only private cruise ship port, Icy Strait Point! And while Icy Strait Point offers gondola rides, nature trails, shopping, and ZipRider–the world’s longest zip line ride, you really need to get away from Icy Strait Point to truly get a grasp on the beauty of this area. From the beautiful native Tlingit culture to the breathtaking landscapes to the awe-inspiring wildlife, Hoonah offers a fantastic peek into an authentic Alaskan way of life. For our time in Hoonah, we opted to take advantage of the area’s abundant wildlife population and went on a whale watching tour! During the 3 hour tour, we saw countless whales, bald eagles, sea lions, otters, and more! It was time well spent and we even had time to indulge in some local halibut tacos and learn more about the local culture before making our way back to Icy Strait Point!
