How to get to the Helsinki Airport from Tampere

It is possible to take a train, but bus schedules are often better, especially if traveling late at night or during the winter holidays.
Bus can also be a cheaper option than a train - it depends: Most of the time bus tickets from Tampere to Helsinki Airport cost 20-25 €, whereas train tickets can be anything from 5 to almost 40 €.

Train: The pricing varies depending on the demand and the train type.
Bus: Prices are more fixed, but vary somewhat depending on the time and bus company. There are some 5 € buses too, but I have never been able to get those tickets.

Tip: Earlier you book, lower the price. I also recommend to book early as possible. Especially during the weekends and holidays buses and trains can be fully booked and you are left without an option to get to the airport by public transportation.

I'm a last-minute booker and usually buy my tickets at the station. This time I wanted to make sure we got to the airport on time and booked one day in advance.
Still, all the trains were full and we got the last seats on this bus.
So do book in advance if you have a flight to catch or some other reason for non-flexible schedules.

With a bus or train, you have one change on the way. That will be in Vantaa. Traveling by train you will switch to an airport train at Tikkurila,
with a bus it's either Keimola or Vantaankoski. The bus driver will help you with that.
