River Sheaf Walk: From Dore Woods to Sheffield Station | Peaceful to Urban Journey

Join me on a unique Sheffield journey that begins at Sheffield Station, where the River Sheaf and Porter Brook meet beneath the city. From there, we jump on the train to Dore & Totley, stepping out into some of South Sheffield’s most peaceful and scenic woodland.

The walk follows a gentle, mostly riverside route through Ladies Spring Wood, past Beauchief Golf Course, and along quiet stretches of the River Sheaf. This section is calm, leafy, and perfect for anyone who loves natural ambience and the sound of running water.

After passing through Millhouses Park, the route gradually shifts into a more urban environment — streets, stone walls, traffic, and the industrial edges of Sheffield as we approach the city centre. The walk finishes right back where we began: with a look at the Porter Brook near Sheffield Station, completing the loop between Sheffield’s two hidden rivers.
