This joint was produced by LEGENDARY Shock G of Digital Underground under the alias of “The D-Flow Production Squad.” G doesn’t get enough credit for his musicianship, because he laced the chord progression himself. G was the real deal! You can find a few videos of him playing if you look.

Dropped in June of 1993, 2Pac was coming off the success of Juice and was looking to make his second album. However, he needed tracks.

Shock made the beat for D.U., but the group couldn’t come up with anything that fit. Months later, Shock gave it to Saafir (RIP), but then gave it to 2Pac whom had a recent falling out with Saafir. ‘Pac originally wrote Shock G and Money-B’s verses, because he was worried they weren’t going to have time for the track. Money-B elected to write his own, but Shock spit the 2Pac penned rhymes. Epic.
