On April 22, 2025, students and staff at Adams Elementary School in Boise, Idaho, celebrated Earth Day with a historic event—the planting of a NASA Moon Tree grown from a seed that orbited the Moon aboard the Artemis I mission.
This highlight video captures the excitement of the entire school community as they gathered for the planting ceremony, featuring a special appearance by astronaut Dr. Ellen Ochoa, the first Latina to travel to space. Watch as Dr. Ochoa answers student questions, helps kindergarteners plant the giant sequoia, and inspires a new generation of explorers.
The event was made possible through a partnership with the U.S. Forest Service and the leadership of Adams’ Green Team. The Moon Tree now stands in the school’s outdoor learning space—thanks to the generous support of the Adams PTO.
