Da Lat: Vietnam's French-style mountain resort V N

In this video I visit Da Lat, a delightfully unique Vietnamese city in the Central Highlands long one of Vietnam's most popular domestic tourist destinations. Built by the colonial era French as a planned resort town nearly a century ago, Da Lat is wrapped around a lake at nearly 5,000 feet elevation. And despite all the colossal 20th century disruptions Vietnam experienced, has retained its distinctly European architecture as well as a modicum of French-influenced cuisine.

It's also a terrific place to escape into the wonderful highlands countryside, which I do for this video, visiting, among other places, a commercial flower-growing operation, a coffee plantation, and a small-town producer of "weasel" coffee. Besides being among the most expensive coffee wherever it is produced, it's unique for its production help from the Asian palm civet, a furry little mammal that loves coffee cherries but can't digest the bean. You get the idea.
