Seizure disorders affect about 1 in 26 people in the United States. Any one of us, at any time, at any age, can develop seizures for any number of reasons. One of the most common causes of seizures in adults is head injuries. This presentation will cover the basics of seizure disorders, including the many different types, etiologies, conditions that mimic seizures, first-aid, and treatment, especially the newer treatments now available. The psychosocial impact of seizures will also be discussed as well.
