A brilliant day at the Pontypool & Blaenavon Railway for their annual steam gala.
@brunelheritage and I begin at Furnace Sidings and arrive in time to see Fenchurch running round its train in prep for the first train. The train would go onto to mark the official reopening of platform 2 at Blaenavon High Level Station for the first time in 84 years. With an intensive timetable, there was plenty to see and hear as the locos tackled the 1in24 gradient towards Furnace Sidings. The gala hosted a range of services including the new goods set, consisting of a Fegusson tractor on a lowmac wagon along with the mineral set.

Hunslet No.1859 Newstead
LBSCR Terrier No.72 Fenchurch
Hunslet No.1873 Jessie
Hudswell Clarke No.1208 Illingworth
