Champion International Paper MIll, also known as, Champion Fiber Company,, Blue Ridge Paper Inc. , Evergreen Packaging, and Pactiv Evergreen. This was an important paper mill located in Canton, NC and it operated for 115 years until it fell behind in competition and the ability to keep up with modern environmental standards. Preceding in is closure for good after damages from Hurricane Helene in 2023, many of the areas textile mills had already gone by the wayside leaving the manufacturing community in Western North Carolina with an abundance of unemployment.
