MI-8 helicopter crash - 2 October 1986 - Chernobyl

On Thursday 2 October 1986, at 5:34 p.m., a military MI-8 helicopter caught the blades of its main rotor on a crane cable, fell from a height of about 50 meters near the walls of the turbine hall and burnt down.

The crew of 4 people died.

This footage was shot by cameraman of the West Siberian studio of newsreel Victor Grebenyuk and included in the documentary "Чернобыль. Осень 86-го" / "Chernobyl. Autumn '86".
