Jay Reid talks about how and why those of us in the scapegoat role in a narcissistic family often find themselves in similar relationships with friends and social circles. I certainly did. Later in life when victims finally uncover the truth about their sick family, they also see that for the same reasons their family tried to destroy them, so did many of their friends among others.
I had this experience exactly with more than a handful of friends. And this doesn’t include a husband and 2 romantic partners who are in a league of their own. As sick as those 3 were, none reach the damage and the level of sick abuse I have endured at the hands of my mom and sister and now pretty much my entire family (see video on family mobbing).
