On March 19th, 2022, SMK launched the inaugural Run Liberia (RL), which created a platform for Liberians to become part of solutions to their communities problems. For the first time in 200 years, thousands of Liberians accepted the challenge and rose up, uniting as one people to help build “One Road” to improve commerce and healthcare in their region. The event also brought the Liberian people together with our international partners. They walked and ran in joyful solidarity on the road that was badly damaged by warfare, exacerbated by the hopeless mindset of the people. As they formed a profound human connection and ran together, participants were transformed to become empowered agents of change. The people experienced a true revelation as they faced the core of their greatest doubts and fears, and concluded that self-determination and growth is not only possible, but achievable.
