Deer Antler Velvet for Dogs, Cats & Pets (Is it Good for Them?)

It’s estimated that 20% of dogs over the age of one suffer from arthritis. In fact, arthritis is the most common health problem in dogs. Although it’s more common in older dogs, it can appear in dogs of almost any age. Cats too develop arthritis at the same rate though it is believed that felines are more apt to hide the symptoms.

Though pets naturally and gradually become less active through aging, arthritis may accelerate their inactivity. Purebred and large dogs are very susceptible to hip and joint problems, reportedly affecting more than 80% of older dogs and large breeds.

DEER ANTLER VELVET STUDIES ON DOGS
Just like with humans, dogs, cats and other pets can benefit from taking deer antler velvet. The active ingredients in deer antler velvet can improve the health and vitality of animals. Particularly, the proteins and growth factors are great for muscle tissue and cell repair, while the collagen and glycosaminoglycans are highly beneficial for joint health.

Studies show that deer antler velvet is effective in preventing and treating pets with mobility issues, jointpain and inflammation. A study done by the University of Montreal evaluated the effect of antler velvet on client-owned dogs with osteoarthrosis - degeneration of the joints. The dogs on placebo did not show significant improvement. The dogs that were given deer antler velvet, showed improvement in their gait, their daily life activities, and their vitality. No clinical changes were revealed on blood analyses. The conclusion was that the administration of deer antler velvet was effective in alleviating arthritis in dogs.

Another study done by the Douglas County Animal Hospital in conjunction with the University of Minnesota tested deer antler velvet on dogs diagnosed with traumatic and/or degenerative joint disease. The dogs were analyzed based on nine areas of mobility-related criteria. The researchers concluded that the dogs treated with deer antler velvet improved their joint mobility. All trial animals exhibited significantly improved range of motion and orthopedic scores in the areas of walking, trotting, running, and climbing stairs. The vast majority of dogs exhibited extreme signs of improvement.

DEER ANTLER VELVET DOSAGE
We recommend a dosage of one capsule (500 mg) for every 45 lbs. of bodyweight daily. Adjust the dose according to your pet's needs.
