Why Jack Black got cast in the Minecraft Movie

Jack Black has been cast as Steve in the Minecraft movie. As with any case of Black being cast, the question is not: why did he get cast, but rather: why does he exist in the first place?

Not in a bad way, of course. But an entertainer of such enormous charisma deserves a suitably outrageous origin story, and luckily, Black has exactly that. His is the story of life as the son of a genius engineer, a hike up a Scottish mountain, and friendships with talented musicians that helped pave the way for his casting, fist in a Pitfall! advert, then in Brutal Legend, then as Bowser in the Super Mario Bros Movie, and finally, as Steve in the upcoming Minecraft movie.

It's been a long journey, but Black's been delighting his fans all along the way.

And it's way better than if certain other actors from the Mario movie got chosen for Minecraft, but that's beside the point.
