In this video, Bart Castle covers creating identity and access management policies in AWS. AWS offers several different approaches to managing who gets to use your resources and what they can do to them. Watch a firsthand demo of five of them.

If you're creating IAM policies for AWS, it's possible to create them in a text editor or a web-based editor, but those are often preferred for modifying existing policies.

If you're generating new policies, there are three other options available to you. The Policy Wizard, AWS Policy Generator, and the command line interface.

Bart navigates each of these methods in turn and walks you through creating, modifying and updating policies.

When creating a new policy in the visual editor, it's easy to add actions manually, the Wizard offers automatic suggestions, and you can select individual commands.

The AWS policy generator is a public predecessor to the Wizard that has a more limited interface that's easy to navigate.

Last, through the CLI, you can view JSON files, update them as you need and post them to your account.
