Are we publishing too many books?

How do we balance giving a book the love it deserves, with our personal workload?
Do authors and illustrators need to be told what to expect with marketing?
What misconception is there around a book campaign?
What is the competition within the market?
What is with the pressure around publication day?

I am not representing my company in this video, but am talking about the publishing industry as a whole in my experience speaking to other professionals.
My aim of this video to open up this conversation; does anyone in publishing agree? Am I alone here? Is there something we can do? Do authors understand what happens in-house?
I love doing my job but like every job there is always something that can be improved!
This video was not made off the back/in response to any particular book/author/conversation but rather a culmination of my experience over the years plus speaking to others including authors!
We’re all on the same team; authors, illustrators, agents, marketers, publicists, editors, booksellers - we all want the same thing…to sell the books!
I don’t mean to imply that some books are not as worthy as others, but rather there are business decisions that mean some books will receive a different to campaign to others. Not necessarily bigger or smaller, just different.
