Inside the Interval

There are days when I walk without much direction,
like the world keeps moving and I’m a few steps behind.
Things happen around me —
people talking, footsteps everywhere —
and still, none of it feels connected to me.

It’s strange trying to act like before
when something inside no longer works the same.
I try to keep steady,
but sometimes everything just feels out of place.

I tried saying it was just exhaustion,
that it would pass soon.
But my body knows before I do
when something has genuinely shifted.

And here I am,
inside the interval
between who I was
and what’s left of me.
I look for any sign
that there’s still a direction,
but all I find
is a space
I don’t know how to fill.

Sometimes I stop in the middle of the street
and wonder when things started drifting apart.
There’s no clear answer,
just a feeling spreading slowly,
like water slipping through cracks
without warning.

People move on with their routines,
and I move too,
but every step I take
carries a weight no one else can see.

I’m not looking for a quick fix,
or a phrase that solves everything.
I just want to understand
why everything slipped out of place.

And here I am,
inside the interval
between who I was
and what’s left of me.
I look for any sign
that there’s still a direction,
but all I find
is a space
I don’t know how to fill.

Sometimes I think about rearranging everything —
making a plan,
trying to rebuild every part of me.
But whenever I start,
nothing fits the way it should.

Even so, I keep going.
Even without a map.
Maybe I’ll find myself
in the pieces that still make sense.

And here I am,
inside the interval
between who I was
and what’s left of me.
Maybe someday I’ll learn
how to fill this space.
Maybe not.
For now, I just keep moving
the way I can,
trying to exist
in whatever still holds me together.
