The farther south you go, the more north you get' is commonly used in relation to Florida. While it usually pertains to politics, it also holds true for population distribution. Heading southward in Florida leads to major metropolitan areas like Orlando, Tampa, and Miami, which rival northern cities in size and prominence. In contrast, northern Florida remains significantly less populated and more sparsely inhabited. So, why is northern Florida less densely populated?
