Welcome to episode 2 of Elgin Museum: In Conversation, our "virtual" Moray Society Winter Lecture Series for 2020-21. In this episode, we’ll be talking with John Borland, President of the Pictish Arts Society and, until May of this year, Measured Survey Manager at Historic Environment Scotland. Now retired, John was with the Royal Commission on the Ancient and Historical Monuments of Scotland and HES for over 35 years. Latterly, he was responsible for the HES Carved Stone Recording Programme, but in his time surveyed sites and objects from all periods of Scottish history and prehistory.
John is a “weel kent” face in the realms of Pictish Stones, and probably knows Scotland’s Pictish Stones better than the Picts who carved them!
