We're kicking off this fundraiser with initial donations of $1,000 from each of us (Maia and Alex) - $2,000. As a grassroots campaign, we're setting an initial goal of $10,000. With your help, we believe we can reach and surpass this goal!
*Like every other transaction, when you donate to fundraisers, there is a transaction fee. We will be covering all of these fees until we reach our initial goal of $10,000. That way, every time you contribute to this campaign, 100% of your donation will go straight to GetUsPPE!

PPE (personal protective equipment), includes N95 respirators, surgical masks, protective goggles, gloves, face shields, coveralls, gowns, booties, and wipes. These necessary items protect medical workers from viral particles on surfaces and during close contact with patients.

Unfortunately, our healthcare system is being overwhelmed as the number of coronavirus cases across the country continues to rise. Hospitals and clinics are facing a severe shortage of PPE, and many have run out of not only respirators, but also simple procedural masks. In some hospitals, workers are being asked to reuse single use masks for multiple patients and long 8-12 hour shifts. Without enough necessary equipment, healthcare workers are unable to work safely.

Our frontline healthcare workers are our first line of defense against COVID-19. As this global pandemic and crisis continues to escalate, it is critical that we provide them with the PPE they urgently require so that they can be equipped to protect themselves, their families, their patients, and all of us. Manufacturers are ramping up PPE production to meet the global need, but until then, every bit of support makes a difference.

We are facing the greatest collective challenge and universal threat of our lifetimes. This virus does not discriminate who it targets. It has and it will impact everyone. Overcoming these unprecedented circumstances requires all of us to come together and ACT.

We have launched this GoFundMe Charity page in direct partnership with GetUsPPE, an organization founded by a group of prominent Emergency Medical physicians to combat the escalating crisis of diminishing PPE supply. They have unified a massive, multifaceted PPE donation base and are partnered with grassroots organizations across the U.S. Together, they are putting critical PPE in the hands of our healthcare workers. By donating, you will be supporting them as they work to advance three key initiatives:

1. Advocate for immediate action to expedite the manufacture of medical PPE nationwide. #GetMePPE #GetUsPPE
2. Unite the maker community to share official PPE designs that can be assembled locally.
3. Leverage a large network of partners and volunteers to facilitate the safe and efficient delivery of supplies to local hospitals.

Currently, monetary donations are collected in a designated "Get Me PPE Fund" housed by AFFIRM, GetUsPPE's sponsoring 501(c)3 institution. They are working quickly with physician groups, strategy, operations, and legal teams on the best process to allocate these funds where they are most needed.
