The Darjeeling Zoo, also known as the Padmaja Naidu Himalayan Zoological Park, is the largest high-altitude zoo in India, situated at approximately 7,000 feet above sea level in Darjeeling, West Bengal. Established in 1958, it is named after Padmaja Naidu, the daughter of freedom fighter Sarojini Naidu. The zoo focuses on the conservation and breeding of endangered Himalayan species, including the red panda, snow leopard, Tibetan wolf, and Himalayan tahr. With its stunning Himalayan backdrop, the zoo offers a unique experience for wildlife enthusiasts and promotes awareness about biodiversity conservation.
