This was my first time ever going to Selkirk - and it was every bit worth the trip!
0:00 - CSX Q437 (Framingham MA - Selkirk NY) w/ CSX 793 - CSX 3105 (ES44AH's) crosses the massive bridge over the Hudson River on the Castleton Subdivision, nearing CP-SK. The train will have to wait at at CP-SK for about 25 minutes while room is made in Selkirk.
0:10 - We are now at CP-SK, and arrive just in time to catch a light power move w/ BNSF 5186 - CP 8710 (C44-9W & ES44AC) depart the east end of Selkirk Yard and head up the Port Subdivision, toward the Port of Albany likely to pick up an empty oil train. Look at 0:56 and you will see Q437 waiting up the tracks on the Castleton Subdivision. The tracks that curve off to the right is the River Subdivision, which goes to North Bergen NJ.
0:58 - The Light Power seen in the last clip of BNSF 5186 - CP 8710 crosses Maple Ave. on the Port Sub.
1:36 - We are now at the east end of Selkirk Yard, and find CSX 8233 (SD40-2) switching out a long cut of cars. No sooner do we start filming them and another switcher - making up a trash train comes toward us w/ CSX 8472 (SD40-2) in the old YN2 scheme! Definitely a nice surprise! Listen at 4:25 as both SD40-2's accelerate side by side! Very cool to see.
4:37 - As the two switchers are backing back into the yard, Q437 comes into view again crossing over the road that we are viewing the yard from. When we had first gotten here an eastbound autorack train was passing over this bridge, either for the B&A or the River Sub. We had missed the power on that one.
4:47 - There we several more units at the east end of Selkirk Yard that we could barley make out the numbers of, these ones we could see however and they were CSX 439(?) - CSX 421 (AC44CW's)
5:00 - Selkirk Yard from "Ben's Bridge". Wow!!!! Most locomotives I have ever seen in my life! Moving trains were:
5:20 - Hump Switcher w/ CSX 2438 - CSX 1008 (Remote Controlled / Yard SD40-2 & Yard Slug [MT6]).
7:42 - CSX Q621's power heads down to the west end of the Departure Yard w/ CN 5466 - IC 1018 - CSX 2692 - CSX 2697 - CSX 2803. (SD60, SD70, GP38-2, GP38-2, GP38-2) Awesome EMD Lashup!
10:35 - CSX 5002 - UP 4972 - UP 7508 (AC60CW, SD70M, AC45CCTE).
10:13 - A Westbound stacker sneaks through w/ CSX 5392 - CSX 5408 - CSX 5228 (ES40DC's)
12:25 - Hump Switcher w/ CSX 2439 - CSX 1015 (Remote Controlled / Yard SD40-2 & Yard Slug [MT6]). They were humping a train that my friend said was 144 cars! Lots of BNSF grain hoppers in the mix.
16:41 - CSX 8380 - CSX 5217 (SD40-2 & ES40DC) arrive on a manifest train from the west and park their power.
18:53 - Q268 is seen departing Selkirk Yard after a brief crew change w/ CSX 7303 - CSX 4602. (CW40-8 - SD80MAC) My first time seeing a SD80MAC, relatively rare find on CSX!
18:42 - Another rare EMD find - CSX 4690! (SD70M) Most pictures / videos I see of these CSX units are taken in Florida on the phosphate trains, so I was very pleasantly surprised to see one here!
Watch in 1080p for best quality.
Thanks for watching. Enjoy!
