This vlog is a personal tribute to my dear friend Roshan Khayal, who passed away last month. Our friendship lasted for more than forty years, and after moving to Canada our families remained close. Roshan served as a Commander in the Pakistan Navy and carried himself with the same discipline and grace throughout his retired life. He loved gathering with friends, sharing stories, and celebrating Urdu literature.
He was the eldest son of the renowned Pakistani poet Himayat Ali Shair. His voice had a depth and clarity that left a lasting impact on everyone who heard it. He did commentary for the Pakistan Day Parade and later lent his powerful voice to several of my documentaries here in Canada. While in the Navy he collaborated with Pakistan Television on the drama serial Samandar Jaag Raha Hai, which remains a memorable part of his creative work.
This video is a reflection of his personality, his achievements, his gentle presence, and the bond we shared over many decades. It is a farewell filled with respect for a friend who left too soon, but whose memory will continue to inspire everyone who knew him.
