Annual Wellness Visits (AWV): CPT Codes, Billing and Reimbursements

We explain the 2022 CPT codes, billing requirements, and reimbursements for Annual Wellness Visits (AWV), so you can properly bill for this program and maximize your revenue. Annual Wellness Visits are an effective way to embrace value-based care, so it’s important to understand the program's rules and regulations, as well as the different types of AWV your practice can offer. We’ll cover the differences between Initial Preventive Physical Examinations (IPPE), Initial Annual Wellness Visits (IAWV), Subsequent Annual Wellness Visits (SAWV), and Advanced Care Planning (ACP).
