Serenata (Leroy Anderson) by the Boston Pops Orchestra, conducted by Arthur Fiedler
Before Leroy Anderson was awarded his own recording contract in 1950, Fiedler's Boston Pops enjoyed the honor of introducing all of Anderson's orchestral pop instrumentals to the record-buying public. This familiar piece first landed in the stores in late 1949; and on the flipside was the debut of his immortal "Sleigh Ride." Subsequent Boston Pops LP and CD compilations did not include this first version of "Serenata" but opted for higher-fidelity re-recordings.
