DIY Horseback Elk Hunt | General Tag on Public Land

This DIY Public Land Horseback Elk Hunt was a dream come true. For a guy from the east coast, there is something magical about a horseback elk hunt, it is literally something I have always wanted to do since I was a boy. And being that my friend took us in, not a paid outfitter, it was a perfect hands-on experience! My Buddy, David Merrill of @bowspider supplied the horses and helped us get back deep into the Wyoming Backcountry in hope of filling my General Elk tag, we could not have done this without him. This was a 100% DIY Public Land hunt and we worked hard! The hard work paid off as soon as we got off the beaten path and into the backcountry. This Hunt had it all. We saw 7 Grizzly Bears, a small pack of wolves, mule deer, bighorn sheep and of course a bunch of elk.
