AWD or RWD Drivetrain:
I think it's pretty clear cut to use AWD simply because it has better overall acceleration. The lap times don't lie. The drifting for the AWD is lighter than the RWD as well. There are no differences in cornering speed and drift recovery speed between the 2 drivetrains.
LV399 BMW M5 AWD Drivetrain performance review:
It is interesting to note that this 2017 BMW M5 is currently an exclusive to NFS Payback with both trailers and the cover page promoting the latest M5 from BMW. Perhaps BMW should be notified that their latest M5's gear change in this game is slower than a Volkswagen Beetle.
Yes, it has the same "manual transmission" as the Corvette C7 GS I reviewed back then. So during launch + NOS, you get acceleration hiccups from it's gear shifts. I guess they accidentally swap the Beetle's transmission with the M5? The engine acceleration and NOS acceleration is pretty decent but unfortunately being slowed down by it's gear shifts.
It's drifting is quite similar to the Beetle. It starts off heavy and then it becomes light, except that you can use the handbrake in the M5. It's overall cornering speed is good but it's drift recovery is a bit on the weak side. It's overall drift angle for high speeds is a bit small which makes it on the weak side for high speed corners.
How does it compare with 911 RSR and Regera:
The car unfortunately is just slightly above average at it's best. It neither has the superb handling of the 911 RSR nor the acceleration of the Regera. Oh and Ghost Games, how about giving lightning fast gear shifts to the M5, like the Beetle's?
