I TRIED A VIETNAMESE COOKING CLASS! Come cook with me in Hoi An! (+ Coconut Baskets!)

Cooking Class & Coconut Basket Boats 🌿🇻🇳 | A Day in Hoi An, Vietnam

Welcome to Hoi An! After the slightly traumatic motorbike ride getting here, we decided to slow things down with a day of food, culture, and a little bit of fun on the river.

✨ Vietnamese Cooking Class
We signed up for an authentic cooking class through our lovely hostel, Riverside Hoi An Dolphin Hostel. You can choose between a morning session (cooking lunch) or an afternoon session (cooking dinner). We went for the morning option to make the most of the day!

The experience began with a stroll through a local food market, where our wonderful teacher Lily introduced us to fresh herbs, fruit, and vegetables before taking us to the kitchen.

✨ Viral Coconut Basket Boats
Before cooking, we hopped into the famous coconut basket boats,the round boats you’ve probably seen all over Instagram! The ride itself was included in the price, but we paid a little extra to try the spinning version (which was so much fun). Shoutout to the guy blasting Gangnam Style while rowing, it definitely added to the vibes!

✨ What We Cooked
Back at the kitchen, we prepared a full Vietnamese feast:
🥟 Fresh spring rolls
🥗 Papaya salad
🥘 Clay pot dishes (the aubergine was divine!)
🥞 Vietnamese pancakes (complete with flambé!)

The boys went for chicken, pork, and fish options, while I stuck with my new vegetarian diet. Honestly, every dish was delicious and cooking it ourselves made it even better.

This was such a fun and memorable experience, we’d highly recommend a cooking class if you’re in Hoi An.
