It was just two 36-packs.
Not 50. Not a pallet.
Enough to last my family of four a few months—bought during a routine bulk run, like thousands of others that day.
But to her—a stranger in designer leggings and noise-canceling headphones—I was a “pandemic profiteer” hoarding “essential crisis supplies.”
She didn’t ask.
She didn’t check the store’s current limits (which were unrestricted).
She grabbed my cart, shouted “You’re stealing from seniors!” in front of the checkout line, and demanded an employee “seize the excess rolls.”
When the Costco team politely explained there was no limit, and that my purchase was well within policy, she escalated—calling a manager, then threatening to “report me to corporate for stockpiling.”
But here’s what she didn’t know:
I wasn’t hoarding.
I was restocking my community pantry—a monthly donation drive for elderly neighbors who can’t navigate warehouse stores.
So I didn’t argue.
I pulled out a photo of Mrs. Gable (89, three blocks over) holding her first TP in weeks…
and asked the manager if charity counted as hoarding.
Stay until the end—you’ll see Costco staff applaud, a shopper livestream the meltdown, and the Karen get escorted out…
not for hoarding—but for attempted theft of a paid-for cart.
Thank you for watching! 🛒🧻
