A traditional dish from our Malendau kitchen, filled with earthy flavours and homely comfort. A leafy green we cherish in our kitchen. These vibrant leaves flourish during the rainy season, bringing comfort and wholesome flavour to every meal. This authentic recipe combines the earthy aroma of garlic, the fiery warmth of Gandhari chilli ( Bird's eye chilli) and the tangy kiss of tamarind, creating a taste that feels like home with every bite. 💚
Recipe : First, wash and finely chop the colocasia leaves. Add salt, crushed garlic, green or bird’s eye chillies, tamarind pulp, and a cup of water. Let it cook till the leaves soften and the water is absorbed.
In another pan, heat some oil, add mustard seeds, urad dal, red chillies, turmeric, and a few crushed garlic pods. Once it turns golden and fragrant, pour this tempering over the cooked leaves. Mix well and let it boil for a few minutes.
Serve hot with steamed rice — simple, rustic, and full of flavour 💚
