Acorn BBC Micro: Introduction to MMFS for TurboSPI (and other MMC or SD card interface) users

If you're already au fait with how MMFS (and Acorn DFS) works, I'll save you 10 minutes by saying up front that this video is not for you.

If you're a complete noob with Beebs, or you've never used MMFS before, this video might be slightly more useful.

MMFS (which AFAIK is short for "Martin Mather File System") is a disk filing system (DFS) upgrade for BBC Model B, Model B+ and Master computers. In addition to the commands offered in Acorn DFS 2.x, MMFS offers a range of extra commands for manipulating disk images on an SD card via a compatible adapter connected to the user port, known as DUTILS.

In this case, I'm using Steve Picton's TurboSPI SD card adapter, as fitted to my BBC Master 128. Other brands of SD card adapter are available.

AUSTRALIAN VIEWERS: Melbourne Console Reproductions now sells an SD card storage device for the BBC Micro. Includes MMFS ROM. I've not tried it yet, so I can't give an opinion. Just be aware that it's an option... I did say other brands of SD card reader are available. 😃
