‘Rough Start’ Lesson 3, Q3 Sabbath School 2025, The Biblical Perspective

Welcome to the next episode in our Exodus series! In this video, we dive into the dramatic showdown between Moses and Pharaoh.

First, we examine Pharaoh’s initial response to Moses’ request: “Who is the LORD, that I should obey his voice?” Pharaoh’s defiance and ignorance reveal a heart hardened against God, setting the stage for the coming miracles and judgments.

We then tackle the tough question: Why does God allow things to get worse for His people after Moses obeys? When Pharaoh increases the Israelites’ burdens, it seems obedience only brings more suffering. Yet, this deepens the need for God’s deliverance and prepares everyone to witness His power. Sometimes, things must get harder before God’s rescue becomes clear.

We also reflect on Moses’ reaction to these setbacks. Overwhelmed and discouraged, Moses questions God. His honesty shows us that even faithful leaders struggle with doubt, and God responds with patience and reassurance.
