There’s buzz on social media claiming the series is connected to a murder that took place at a Taylor Swift concert last year — but that’s not exactly true. (Ref: viral tweet)
Recently, around 20% of physical assault crimes in England and Wales have been committed by teenagers aged 10 to 17 —a truly shocking statistic.
The show’s creator, Stephen Graham, said he was inspired to make the series after being deeply affected by a case he came across during that time.
So no — this isn’t a direct retelling of a true story.
But it’s a reflection of a real and growing problem.
