Max Power Racing is a racing game released in 1998, developed by Eutechnyx and published by Infogrames for the PlayStation. The UK release had a marketing tie-in to the popular UK 'lads mag', Max Power Magazine, which featured regular souped-up road cars and car shows, as well as offering guides for car parts and even cars for sale. One of the regularly featured cars in the magazine was also used for the cover of the game - the 'Max Power Project 2000'; a bright pink Ford Escort. The game was released in Europe as C3 Racing, the three C's standing for 'Car Constructor Championship'. In North America the game was marketed as TNN Motorsports Hardcore TR, the TR standing for 'Truck Racing', which, unlike the UK and European versions, did away with the licensed sports cars and instead went with fictional pick-up trucks. They also changed the games' locations; with the UK and European versions spread across 10 different countries, instead all locations were set in the United States.

The game has two main modes of play; Arcade Mode and Championship Mode. In Arcade mode the player races on all 30 tracks in the game, three tracks each from all 10 locations, unlocking new and more powerful cars as the player progresses. At the start of Arcade Mode only two locations are open to the player; Africa and Peru. As you progress other countries become available; Brazil, Indonesia, Rome, China, UK, USA, Norway and Monaco. Similarly with the car choices, with the player only able to choose between a small Nissan Micra or a Renault Clio. As the player gains victories more cars are unlocked and more classes of car also become available.

If the player finishes first on all three tracks in Africa then they will unlock the Indonesian tracks. If they finish first on those tracks then they will unlock the Brazil stages and so on and so forth. The player also must win each stage to progress.

In Championship mode, the racing turns points-based. Meaning the player does not need to finish first to progress. There are four classes, GTI Amateur, GTI Pro, High Performance Amateur and High Performance Pro. The Amateur divisions have 5 races per championship, while the Pro events have 10 events respectively. Points are awarded for how well you finish;

1st - 10 points.
2nd - 6 points
3rd - 4 points
4th - 3 points
5th - 2 points
6th - 1 point.
(retiring from a race gives you zero points)

Driver with the most points at the end of the season wins the championship. You also unlock more cars are you progress through the championship mode, as only a small selection are available. Usually the slowest car of that particular class. So if you fail to win, you can try again in the more powerful vehicles you unlocked.
