Lisa Freeman is a self proclaimed badass social worker who delivers a reminder of how to be authentic. Using a few examples from her experiences of "playing in the dirt" Lisa draws the audience into their own individual skills and talents that are lying dormant; buried as "in the dirt".
Lisa discusses authentic relationships as a process in life that many don't discover until they are in the final chapters of one life and urges us to take a closer look and rediscover how to begin creating authentic relationships by first focusing in on "I" in the letters that spell out A.U.T.H.E.N.T.I.C. Don't wait until midlife; discover and share your true skills, talents, skills and abilities to the world and create genuine and long lasting purpose in your own life; as well as offer it as a gift to others and the WORLD.
Lisa Freeman is a badass social worker from Pittsburgh, PA. Committed to social justice and serving the unmet needs in the community, Lisa gains inspiration from "the marginalized", who are her prized heirlooms that she cares for in her truly unique urban farm. Her goals as a professional social worker, activist and first-responder are to open up dialogue and raise awareness of cultural identity; via a mass of "dirt" to promote the importance of ones fundamental accountability to one’s community; as well as oneself by leading by example. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
