'THE FALL LINE' is is my continuous story of searching for the most beautiful ski descents in the world. I started in Utah, Wyoming, and Washington, and I hope to use backcountry skiing and ski mountaineering as my reason to see different parts of the world.
The Teton Range is full of world-class backcountry ski and ski mountaineering lines. The South Teton has multiple options, but the Amor a' Vida couloir stands out. Some exposed skiing on its very steep upper face leads to a rocky entrance to a stunning 1600' south-facing couloir. Sustained at 40-50 degrees, this is a splendid objective for any experienced backcountry skier. This line has claimed the lives of multiple people via avalanches, so it is critically important to either wait for a special storm with low/moderate snow totals and very little wind(which rarely happens in the Tetons), or wait until for a solid high pressure system to reduce the avalanche danger.
