Likely my last laps on Parasol Gully for the season. Ice was solid but lots of running water underneath the thinning parasols.
Have to add that I’m really enjoying the Harfang Tech Crampons. I received them early this winter, but found myself too busy guiding to break them out (honestly I kept forgetting as daily guiding life starts to feels like Groundhog Day).
I’ve put a couple weeks on them and have been very pleased. Obviously, they’re light and compact, and steel is super sharp out of the box. That said, the points appear to be holding up well.
A couple friends mentioned dropping a crampon on their first outing after the initial set up. I did not have that issue. I will add, they ARE set up TIGHT, which I do with all my crampons. (I prefer to hear a nice loud “snap” when strapping in. Sometimes it takes effort to get them on and off.)
With the Harfangs I shoot for the same SNAP. I have taken time to remove a little slack if I don’t get the response I like. So, they are not a “set and forget” crampon. They require your attention when strapping in to climb.
