In epoxy resin art, four types of resin are manufactured and available to artists:

1. Thin Epoxy Resin
2. Semi-Thin Epoxy Resin
3. Semi-Thick Epoxy Resin
4. Thick Epoxy Resin

We have various techniques in epoxy resin art, such as resin dish-making techniques, ocean resin techniques, resin jewelry-making, wood and resin designs, abstract techniques, and many more.

To execute these techniques properly, the appropriate type of epoxy resin must be used:
*For making resin dishes*, semi-thick resin should be used.
*For making jewelry*, semi-thin resin is ideal.
*For creating large volume designs*, such as wood and resin tables, thin resin is used.
*For ocean resin techniques*, it is very important to use thick epoxy resin.

Which Epoxy Resin Has the Highest Durability?
Thick epoxy resin has high durability, is less prone to scratches, and does not break easily. However, thick resin tends to produce a lot of bubbles, making it unsuitable for small and delicate designs like jewelry.

Additionally, thick resin generates a lot of heat, which can shorten the lifespan of silicone molds when used in casting. Moreover, shaping thick resin is more difficult, which is why semi-thick resin is preferred for making resin dishes.

How Long Do Epoxy Resins Take to Cure?
Thin resin takes about one week to dry enough to prevent warping and become usable.
Semi-thin resin takes around five days to cure.
Semi-thick resin takes three days to become usable.
Thick resin takes just one day to be ready for use.

Epoxy resins are completely transparent and colorless. When storing them, be sure to keep them in a dark place, as sunlight can cause them to turn yellow over time. Transparent epoxy resin may gradually yellow due to sunlight exposure, so it is recommended to use approved epoxy resin pigments to create your designs.

There are various types of epoxy resins and hardeners available in stores. To achieve the correct mixing ratio, always refer to the technical data sheet provided by the epoxy resin and polyamine hardener manufacturers.

The epoxy resin I use—which many of you have asked about—is thick epoxy resin with a 2:1 mixing ratio. This means that for every amount of hardener, you must add **twice that amount of resin. The mixture should be stirred thoroughly for 3 to 4 minutes to ensure proper blending.

When measuring epoxy resin, always use digital scales to accurately measure the 2:1 ratio. If the ratio is incorrect, your project may not cure properly.
