Delta Shelter is a compact, prefabricated steel cabin elevated above a floodplain in the Methow Valley. Designed for durability and minimal environmental impact, it features an innovative system of hand-operated steel shutters that fully enclose the structure when not in use. Inside, the interplay of raw steel and warm wood creates a balance between industrial resilience and natural comfort. Prefabrication reduced construction waste, and passive ventilation replaces air conditioning, reinforcing its off-grid sustainability. Amidst a snow-covered landscape, the cabin’s corten steel façade absorbs the soft winter light, offering a refuge that feels both rugged and poetic.
