Is that constant drip... drip... drip from your bathtub faucet driving you nuts and wasting water? Don't call a plumber just yet! In this video, I'll show you how to fix a dripping bathtub faucet, specifically focusing on the common issue of a worn-out washer on the faucet stem (often the culprit for hot water side leaks).
Anyone can tackle This straightforward DIY plumbing repair with a few basic tools. We'll go step-by-step through the entire process:
Turning off the water supply (Safety first!)
Removing the faucet handle (Usually just one Phillips head screw)
Removing the escutcheon/trim plate (If necessary)
Unscrewing the bonnet nut/retaining nut to access the faucet stem.
Pulling out the faucet stem.
Identifying and replacing the old washer (The key step to stop the drip!)
Reassembling the faucet.
Turning the water back on and testing for a leak-free faucet!
Stop letting that leaky tub faucet waste water and money! This easy fix usually only requires a new washer (which costs pennies) and tools you likely already have:
Phillips Head Screwdriver
Adjustable Wrench or Pliers
Replacement Faucet Washer (Make sure to get the right size!)
Rag
Whether you have a dripping hot water faucet or cold water faucet in your tub, this guide for replacing the stem washer on a compression-style faucet can help you solve the problem.
