Wood-Mizer Set up - How long does it REALLY take?

How long does it really take to set up a portable Wood-Mizer sawmill? In this video, I use my LT40HD to demonstrate the set up process and explain the realistic time frame one can expect in setting up a sawmill for portable jobs.

As always, I try my best to give as honest a review as possible, with some good old practical advice mixed in.

Here is the general process to set up a Wood-Mizer hydraulic sawmill:
1) Unhook the sawmill from the truck hitch on reasonably flat terrain.
2) Put down the back outrigger, but not all the way down to allow for leveling.
3) If necessary, get car jack to level the machine side to side
4) Check front to back level and adjust the very front and very back outriggers as necessary
5) After front/ back is level, recheck side to side and drop the rest of the outriggers. Lock in place with rod supplied on sawmill. Always check for level!!!
6) Unhook sawmill head, start the engine, and raise the head above the log loader. Move the sawmill head to the front of the machine.
7) Lower the positioning pin that held the sawmill head in place.
8) Move the board return assist to the front position of the machine, making sue to secure the safety pin in it's proper place.
9) Take all necessary covers off of the machine. (Debarker/ hydraulics, etc.)
10) release safety pin on debarker (if equipped)
11) lower the log loading arms and test functions of all hydraulics
12) tension sawmill blade and make sure debarker/ guide roller arms/ power head/ track system is all running properly.
13) Load first log and have fun making lumber!
14) After every 3-4 logs check lubrication on machine and sawdust on track system/ sawmill head and guide rollers.
