Smart Driving DISASTER: Fail High-Speed Collision Tests

A highly realistic smart driving test, conducted by Chinese car website Don't Show a D and CCTV, exposed the shocking reality of driver assist capabilities in 36 mainstream car models. The evaluation involved renting a 15 km stretch of highway and city roads to simulate 15 types of high-risk accident scenarios. The overall outcome was described as "disastrous", confirming that current mainstream smart driving systems still cannot replace human drivers.
Key Test Results and Failures:
• Overall Failure Rate: Not a single car passed all six different projects included in the testing. Many vehicles had a survival rate of only 17% when tested in high-speed accidents.
• Highway Scenarios: Six types of highway scenarios were tested, resulting in a low overall pass rate of just 24% across 183 tests.
• Chinese Domestic Brands: 15 Chinese domestic brands, including Huawei, Xiaomi, and BYD, had pass rates as low as zero in certain projects.
• Specific Failures:
◦ Almost all 36 cars failed the wild animal crossing test, often failing to recognize the boar as a high-priority object.
◦ The Xiaomi SU7 Max detected a broken-down car but couldn't stop in time, crashing into it.
◦ In nighttime recognition tests (pitch black highway, no street lights), the Xiaomi SU7 Max Elite Auto L6, despite having both visual and LiDAR systems, could not brake in time, which was deemed embarrassing.
Top Performers:
The best-performing cars were the Tesla Model 3 and Model X, which passed five out of six tests. The Tesla Model X achieved the best results in city scenarios, with an 88.9% pass rate across eight successful tests.
This test served as a "harsh reality check" for those who believed the marketing hype surrounding driver assistance systems and debunks the "fantasy of driving with your eyes closed".
