Camera cuts to Suzanne at her office desk, smiling and signing in ASL:

“2024 has been a year of growth and progress for CAV, and I would like to take a moment to reflect on everything we have accomplished together. Our focus has been on building a stronger foundation to serve our community better.

This year, we achieved several milestones, including:

Upgrades to the VRS platform

A feasibility study on DeafBlind services and new training for video interpreters

Improved quality assurance processes for interpreters

Better communication with a new Facebook page and a Consumer Consultation Panel

Starting the RFI process for VRS platform providers

Transitioning the customer service team from IVèS to CAV

None of this would have been possible without the dedication of our Board, Staff, stakeholders, and the Deaf community. Thank you for your support.

As we look ahead to 2025, we are ready to build upon this year’s progress and to continue making a difference. Wishing you a happy holiday season and all the best in the New Year. See you in 2025!”

Suzanne smiles and closes the laptop after watching her own video. She leaves her office and gathers the team together for a project.

The CAV team starts moving furniture in a tizzy. Suzanne returns with a big box and the team surrounds her with anticipation and curiosity about what is inside.

Suzanne opens the box; all the team members reach inside to pull out different sized pieces. Each person starts assembling them one by one. Each piece is decorated with different kinds of wrapping paper.

The staff steps back and surrounds Suzanne. The whole team looks at each other, nodding. Suzanne grabs the camera and turns it around, revealing the surprise.

Behold, the Canada VRS logo is hung up on the wall, festively decorated with different coloured pieces put together.

Camera pans out of the window with the snowflakes falling softly. A 3D text zooms slowly towards screen and reads: “Happy Holidays”.
